Improved Corrosion Resistance Behaviour of AlSi10Mg Alloy due to Selective Laser Melting

The corrosion behaviour of AlSi10Mg alloy produced by selective laser melting (SLM) under two different atmospheres, namely argon and nitrogen, was compared to that had been cast. present study demonstrates the systematic electrochemical selective-laser-melted (SLMed) AlSi10Mg. Potentiodynamic polarisation impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used investigate behaviour, illustrating degrading features SLMed in 0.1 M NaCl solution. resistance using found be 2–3 times greater than degradation also explained SEM analysis corroded samples as-cast alloy. It may deduced better through is due fast cooling rate associated with solidification fabricated melting, slow casting.
